Destruction...
It is easier to Red Pill someone than it is to Blue Pill them.
Let's start there.
There are so many people right now who are saying that the Democrats missed the wave of podcasting and social media and YouTube videos and all of the things the Right used to reach those angry young men and turn them into Republican voters. I'm not saying that people are wrong. Democrats did miss how radicalized our youth was getting.
Even with teachers sounding the warning bell for the past 3 years. The kids did not come out of the pandemic okay. They spent those years that they weren't in school online. And the algorithms fed them more and more radical stuff. They started out with "fun" pranks or fitness videos and ended up with thinking women aren't real people and the whole government should be destroyed.
One step lead to the next. That's the way it worked.
So the Democrats are thinking well let's start podcasts and that will fix it.
It won't. Not right away anyway. Empathy isn't as fun as destruction. Building things is much harder than smashing them and not nearly as cool.
There's also the problem that the manosphere is telling them that destruction is their right. That women are to be treated as objects because that's right. Not just right like politically to the Right, but right as in that's the way nature deems it to be. To the victor go the spoils and women are just spoils. The earth is just spoils. Everything is there for the taking because it's right.
That's heady stuff.
It's a lot harder to convince people that they shouldn't take whatever they want. Right before the last Trump inauguration the author Lauren Morril made a post (often mis accredited to Anthony Fauci) about her frustration and she said, "I don't know how to explain to you why you should care about other people." And that's the challenge the Left faces. Trying to teach empathy is a lot harder than saying BREAK SHIT!
After this election I had a fight with someone I had considered a friend and one of the things he said was that those of us on the left missed that people vote from their lived experiences. And the thing that still gets me, to this day, is that he thought that was something deep and meaningful that nobody was considering. Of course people view the world through their lived experiences. That's why empathy is so fucking important.
I need people who don't have trans family members or friends to understand that this administration is sowing fear and hatred and is endangering them. I need that to be important to someone who isn't trans. Who doesn't love someone who is trans. People who depend on services from the federal government to afford to eat need those of us who can shake our heads at the price of groceries and STILL BUY THEM to care about them. People who have a nonviable pregnancy and need medical care need those of us way past our childbearing years to care about that and protect their rights. It goes on an on. Your lived experience is small, the world is vast.
Breaking things is easier. Viewing the world only as it affects you is easy.
Red Pilling someone is so much easier than Blue Pilling them.
It doesn't mean we shouldn't keep doing the work, but what you should understand is that it's hard. It's going to be a slog. There isn't an easy answer to this. The kids are not okay and it's got a lot to do with the parents not being okay either. And just because you started out Blue doesn't mean you are immune from the allure of the Red.
Gavin Newsom just started a podcast. He's platforming the people on the Right to spread their message even wider. Gavin Newsom. And on his first podcast with Charlie Kirk he told him that his son was a fan. Gavin Newsom. Democratic Governor of California. Formerly an unabashed Trump critic and the hope of a lot of Democrats for the next presidential election. Now, he says its to bring unity to the country and explore ideas. But those ideas don't need help spreading. Those ideas should be pushed against, not nodded along with.
It's easier to Red Pill someone than it is to Blue Pill them.
He's not the only one. The number of people on the Right who have a villain origin story that is basically, someone on the Left was mean to me so I had no choice but to change my entire belief system and do a heel turn. I mean, that's my lived experience what else was I supposed to do?
See why it bothers me so much?
It's hard to get people to care about others as much as they care about themselves. It's supposed to be a foundation of Christianity. It's a foundational belief in a lot of religions actually. That's how important it is.
Stop being selfish. Stop breaking things just because you don't need them. Love your neighbor as yourself. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Take a breath and look around. There are over 8 billion people in the world. Eight billion lived experiences that are not your own. Try to remember they are just as valid as you are. Their needs are important as well.
Building is harder than breaking.
But the good news is you can still break things, even if you are solidly Blue.
Break the things that need broken and be ready to rebuild. I will punch a Nazi in the face. I want to smash the patriarchy. I want to ruin the oligarchs. I want to rebuild a system that is just. Not just for the white guys. Justice for all.
When in the course of human events it becomes necessary...
We are in a new course of human events. Are you strong enough to build or only interested in breaking?
Red Pilling is easy.
Be ready for the hard work.
