Even More Random...
This is going to be a collection of random thoughts. I mean, that was the point of the blog, but this is going to be even MORE that than usual.
Basically these are things that if I were still on Facebook would have been a flurry of FB status posts over the past few days... You all will remember why it might not have been all that terrible that I left.
- Curling my hair with my big barrel curling iron today to try and tame it a little. I'm not used to this new have to style my hair or I look like two raccoons were fighting on my head thing that's going on.
- One time a few years ago Brent folded the fitted sheet and told me I couldn't think "What sort of a monkey fucking a soccer ball folded these sheets" and so now at least once a week when I'm making the bed I think to myself..."What sort of monkey fucking a soccer ball folded these sheets?" Usually it's me. Not that I'm a monkey fucking a soccer ball...but I did fold the sheets.
- Listening to Time in a Bottle this morning. I still love the song, it was one of our wedding songs. But I do have to think the older people in the congregation probably laughed at the idea that a couple of 18 year olds had "looked around enough to know" any fucking thing.
- A friend of mine was just diagnosed with colon cancer. If you haven't gotten your screening, go get it. Not only if you are over 50, but ask your doctor if you need early screening. Yes, the prep sucks, but not finding your cancer until it's late stage sucks a whole lot more. Your friends would love for you to find anything wrong early.
- My dermatologist gushed over how beautiful my skin is and how she loves to see me on the schedule because I'm such an easy appointment. Basically I'm fair with few freckles and moles so it's quick. Then she was fast to say that my family history and my own past removals of precancerous spots means I don't get to skip my yearly exams. So another year of standing naked in front of someone who is literally going over you with a magnifying glass over and done. Another six months and my embarrassment should fade.
- Got the results from my spot check on my cholesterol. The changes I've made were successful and my numbers went down so I'm just barely in the borderline area now. My first reaction was...Well fuck. Because that means I have to keep eating like this. Boo... I mean, oh yay. Fixed it with food and not medication. Now I'll add in more lifting and see if I can move that number even more.
- We are only five weeks away from Brent retiring and as he put it when we were having dinner with friends over the weekend it's not too many days and yet way too many days. Soon...soon...
- My gray hair has grown out enough that the crown of my head is in a silver glow. I joke that it looks like I'm constantly in a spotlight. Which is correct.
I'm sure there were more. But these are the ones that came back to me as I started writing. I don't use BlueSky the same way I used Facebook and that's a good thing, takes less of my time that way, but it is funny how used to posting little daily, hourly, half hourly, every fifteen minute, updates I got. Look at my food. Let me share this quick joke. Let me rant about Trumplethinskin for a moment.
Now all of you think good thoughts for Brent who still has to hear all of these random things.
Have a good weekend!
