Everyone Has a Plan...

until your country invades a sovereign nation, removes their leader, arrests his wife, and establishes themselves as the ruling party. That's how the saying goes right?

Brent and I were talking about it this morning, like I imagine almost every American household was, and how you just cannot gain your footing. Which is on purpose. They want to keep all of us rocked so they can keep looting our country, and apparently other countries, and continue to entrench themselves. This one is a major shake though. We invaded Venezuela. We snatched up their leader and his wife. We are taking over the government and it won't cost us anything because we are going to loot their oil while we are there.

Which during the whole Iraq invasion there were many of us who did the constant refrain of it's the oil. It's the oil. It's the oil. Our government tried to pretend it wasn't. With this one our current president went on TV and said, it's the oil and we are taking it. No pretense. We invaded and are taking over for the oil. Their vice president has addressed the nation and said, "not so fast, fuckface" paraphrased, but that was the gist. The coup isn't complete just yet, but we've got a lot of firepower at our disposal.

I'm waiting now for the international community to finally step in. We know our domestic politicians are weak and verging on worthless and won't hold him to account. Our Less than Mediocre Court has declared him a very special boy who can do whatever he wants without repercussions so he won't face anything here at home, but... come on. We invaded another country. We should be shunned and shut out like Russia was after they invade Ukraine. We should be barred from the Winter Olympics, best case our athletes can compete under a made up flag and no national anthem if they win. The World Cup should be scrambling for new venues and we should be barred from competition. (I know super corrupt FIFA won't even pretend to be upset but it still SHOULD happen) There should be sanctions and asset freezing and travel bans. We should be a pariah.

He's been talking about how we need Greenland for our own protection again. He's shown he will invade another country so what's stopping him? A loyalty to NATO? Common sense? He has neither. The international community needs to stop viewing him as an easily manipulated manchild and instead as a threat to their security, though he is both.

Here at home we need consequences. He needs to be impeached. People need to be arrested and sent to prison. The houses need cleaned. We need a reckoning. Which I think there will be arrests and prison sentences, but I think it's going to be people who are fighting him. We are already seeing it with ICE. They are pulling people off the street and disappearing them. They are about to do a big surge into Phoenix which will mean another city gets a front row view to how depraved they are. It's one thing to see them on TV it's another to see the big, black, unmarked, SUVs in your neighborhood.

The people around him know that what they are doing isn't legal. They know they can face consequences. It's why they are going to hold on with both hands to the power they have. As soon as they lose it they might actually pay for their crimes.

Might.

I mean the US has never been good about holding political criminals responsible for their misdeeds. We think it would be damaging to the country to do so. But somehow letting them get away with it, and serve in another administration, isn't. I mean, our current president is a convicted felon and was found guilty by a jury of his peers of saying E. Jean Carroll was lying when she said he raped her, because he raped her. We aren't big on consequences for actions if you are rich enough and connected enough and people are fucking stupid enough to vote for you.

I have no answers. I have no real predictions. I have a madman for a president who is surrounded by power hungry, soulless, ghouls. It's a little unsettling to say the least.

Hold on, everyone, it's going to be a bumpy year.
