Feast...
Fertilizing my flowers this morning and discovered a massive snail infestation. Now, we always have snails. It's Oregon. Usually I just pick them off and toss them into the yard. The birds can have them. If they survive the return trip to my flowers I toss them back out.
But right now? SO MANY SNAILS.
I had already suspected I had more than usual when I found that one of my brand new marigolds had been munched down to the nub. Just gone. Crazy.
So now I will have to get some Sluggo and banish them completely. (It's the organic anti slug/snail repellent) I could put out beer traps but I don't want to have to buy beer and I don't want to have to clean up after a bunch of drunk snails.
It's an interesting balance with wanting pretty flowers, not wanting a bunch of dangerous to everyone pesticides, but also wanting to not serve my flower garden as a buffet to the snail population. I'm glad I don't grow vegetables. That's a constant battle. Bunnies, raccoons, deer, snails, slugs, and every other type of bug you've never heard of but is so hungry.
I had a few other things I was thinking about writing today, and maybe I'll write them tomorrow or the next day, but instead you get a short post about stupid snails. Or smart snails. I mean they know where the food is afterall.
I hope your day is going well and you get a chance to enjoy the pretty flowers before some asshole snail eats them all.
