Fit It All In...

I'm most motivated to do stuff in the morning. I get up and make breakfast and Brent's smoothie then send him off to work. After that I make my own smoothie, clean the kitchen, do the first round of chores, workout, practice my Spanish, take a shower, do another round of chores, watch a Masterclass, and write.

If that sounds like too much to fit into a morning you are right. It is. But ideally that's how I'd like it to go.

I'm not motivated in the afternoon. I think it started because I used to suffer from chronic insomnia. By mid afternoon I'd bonk. Just hit the wall and my brain would tap out. So I wanted to do everything early. When I was in the office I'd get up and get Katie to school then head right in to work (when she was a little older and we were comfortable leaving her home alone, Brent and I would get up, go to the gym, then start the day, we were 5 AM when the doors open gym goers). But either way, when she was attending her magnet schools she started her day early so I started mine early.

I was in the office for at least an hour to two hours before everyone else. Most productive time of my day. Quiet; the phones hadn't come off of auto answer yet, nobody was there to want to chat or to ask questions that I had told them the answer to 300 times already and if they'd just write it down they'd never need to ask again...and...wait where was I? Oh yeah, I started my day early, and I left early.

Before the bonk.

Now I tend to sleep a lot better and don't really need to avoid the mid afternoon tap out but I still prefer to have that time for reading or watching TV. Then I do a smaller second round of chores in the late afternoon, finish cleaning things up, cook dinner, that sort of thing but I want to get everything else done early.

Add in hot weather and that push to be done early is ever worse.

Today one of my later in the day chores is something I normally do in the garage. It's going to be over 90 again today which means the afternoon garage temp is no bueno. So I decided to do it this morning. So morning chores, afternoon chores, workout, all before the temperature rises too much and makes it all unpleasant. I made it. Barely. The garage was already warm from yesterday even though I tried to get it aired out before I started. (Which means tomorrow's workout is going to be HOT) But for the most part things are done and it's just after noon.

And I'm writing this to count toward my numbers. I have written the past few days, just nothing for the blog and I'm dangerously close to not having the blog only writing more days than not before adding in the extra writing. Which the extra writing totally counts, but you know, pics or it didn't happen.

What is your preference? Are you a get it all done in one fell swoop before you lose motivation or are you a piece it out throughout the day so you don't feel rushed? Or do you not have any idea because your schedule is set by some other constraint? Work, school, kid's schedules, those things keep you from figuring it out until they are over.

For me I want to get the have to stuff done before I lose motivation and start telling myself that I don't HAVE to do anything, not really.

And check it off, and get that star.
