Jerk...

You know when you are on the edge of light sleep and deep sleep and you are dreaming that you are walking or running and you trip? That jerk that shakes your body because you haven't yet reached the deep sleep no moving level yet. And now you aren't going to. You've jerked yourself awake, your heart is racing and that fleeting glimpse of sleep is gone...

That's how living in the United States feels right now.

You are living your life, doing your thing, planning your vacation, and then JERK something happens that pulls you right back into the nightmare all around you.

It's the weirdest thing.

You have to normalize a lot of things that shouldn't be normal or you will literally stress yourself to death. You have to either ignore things, or limit your access to things, or rank them on the problem for now to problem for later scale and only deal with problem for now items. Even though the problem for later stuff is massive.

This morning when I woke up the thought popped in my mind was "we are never going to fix all of this." Which I've talked about before. The amount of things he's smashed and trashed we are not going to fix in my lifetime. The clearing out of institutional knowledge and skill in all of the government agencies. The instilling of MAGAts at every level of the FBI and the CIA and DOJ. The world wide programs that have been trashed that will possibly never recover. The absolute brain drain in the sciences that will take decades to recapture. The potential mRNA possibilities that the US won't get a chance to develop and if other countries do (which I assume they will) we might not get a chance to access.

There was a story making the rounds yesterday about a new vaccine that would be like an omni vaccine. Protection from a whole host of things. It's early, it's still in animal trials, I actually have questions about what happens if it wipes out too much of the "germ" load that we carry as a necessity, but...I have no idea if the US would even get a chance to take it if it is approved someplace else. Our highest health offices are filled with quacks and science deniers right now and how long will it take to rectify that? And again, that's if we get the chance to do so.

Trump is openly looting the coffers right now and what does that mean if we do get him out of office? How broke are we as a country going to be? Will we ever be able to recoup the billions he is openly stealing from the country? And how do we recover from that?

And our standing in the rest of the world? Forget about it. We've proven that we will elect a conman criminal and are thus not at all trustworthy. So...

Yeah.

It wouldn't have been as bad to wake up and think all of that if it hadn't been around 4 AM. Not really conducive to getting back to sleep. Jerked awake thinking of that jerk and all of the jerks who voted for him and all of the jerks who enable him.
