Joy Break!

This morning there was a beautiful western bluebird on the back fence. Like story book picture of a spring bird. Blue feathers, red breast, sky was pink from the sunrise, frost on the wood of the fence...gorgeous. Of course when I went to grab my camera he flew away. But trust me he was beautiful. Even Tig agreed. At least I think that's what his chattering meant...

But it reminded me that I hadn't been posting about those moments of joy. The ones we all need at the United States rushes headlong into fascism/oligarchy/technocratic nightmare fuel, whatever you want to call it. As we crumble we have to find things that help build us up.

So... aside from spring birds we have the crocus in bloom right now. Really pretty little clusters of flowers. The backyard groups are spreading nicely. The front yard ones have gone a bit more haphazard. Instead of little clusters I have a cluster then a few rogue ones that have wandered far afield. I love them all.

Last Sunday Brent and I went and saw Craig Robinson. They added a last minute show since he had sold out everything else and I happened to be online right as they did it and snagged us tickets. I know 4:30 on a Sunday is a weird time for a comedy show, but it worked for me. Back home before 7? Yes please.

The show was a lot of fun. I've seen bits and pieces of what he does in his standup act but hadn't ever seen him live. It was great. Basically a comedy sing a long. And there is something to be said about groups of people singing together. It's a soul soothing experience. With jokes.

We are getting in to the thick of college hockey and basketball tournaments. First up are the B1G tournaments. Michigan Women's team won both of their first two games and faces USC in the semis tomorrow. Hoping for a bad JuJu game but I mean...JuJu Watkins is a force so...but either way the last two games have been exciting. A close one with Washington and a dominating one against Maryland today. We have a men's hockey playoff tonight against Penn State. The men's basketball tournament is next week and then we will roll into March Madness and the Frozen Four tournaments. So exciting stuff there.

The Thorns and Timbers are back. Not expecting great seasons from either team, honestly, but it's still fun to watch. Usually. I mean it can be painful as well when it's really bad but...still we enjoy it.

The weather has been a lovely false spring. We should be in the 60s tomorrow so a weekend day with sunshine and warmth means some gardening. I guess not everything is joy...

Kidding.

Kind of. You know how I feel about gardening. I love the results, hate the work.

So there you go. Even as the dread sneaks around the edges and the catastrophe tries to gray everything out there are pockets of joy.

Find those.

Embrace them.

Keep searching for the joy.
