No Kings...

This morning in the grocery store we overheard the checker passing along the phone number for an organization that you can call if ICE shows up where you are. They will come and do what they can to help. As she was explaining to another checker what all they do she left out one piece and because I am me I added it. They will try to get the name of the person ICE is snatching so they can contact the person's family and let them know what has happened. Because people are running out to the store, going to work, checking in at their immigration appointments, and not coming back.

She had gotten the phone number at the protest yesterday. We asked which one she went to, it was the same one we did. We talked a little about it and she said that the part she liked the most was how many people were there and it made her feel like she wasn't alone. She said she felt better after yesterday.

Which is exactly what we thought about the first No Kings Day in June. It was just nice to see other people who agreed with you. Because it's really crazy making to read articles and see interviews where they are trying to make it seem like what he is doing is popular and that those of us who disagree are just a small handful of lunatics.

Brent and I wanted to make sure we made it to one of the protests yesterday just to have two more bodies there. We want to be part of the crowds, so that the crowds are larger. We don't want the numbers to be dismissed. We want them to be large enough that MSN has to cover it. And show that no, this isn't a hate rally, this is a we want better for America rally. This is patriotism. This is democracy. This is important and he is not king.

Which the White House responded to the protests by posting two AI videos of Trump in a crown. One with members of Congress bowing to him, and wearing sombreros, and one where he literally dumps shit on protestors. Remember when the media freaked the fuck out over Hillary saying some of Trump's supporters were deplorable? Now they are ignoring that Trump has said anyone who didn't vote for him is a terrorist and he will literally shit on them if given the chance. And posting racist memes FROM THE OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE SOCIAL MEDIA FEED. And they will ignore it, or sanewash it, or say we can't call him a racist when he does racist things. Because they are cowards.

We met friends at the protest yesterday and had other friends that were there that we didn't see. And we had other friends who weren't at the protests but we know are supportive. We have a good bubble around us of people who know what is happening is wrong and that's important. Because it is wrong. As a lot of the signs said yesterday, there is too much to list for one sign! And he keeps adding every day to the issues. Illegalities. Things that in any other presidency would be grounds for impeachment. Johnson is so busy protecting not just Trump but all of the other pedofiles in the Epstein files that he won't even call the House of Representatives back into session.

We live in crazy making times but it's good to be around people who can see that it's crazy and take some strength from that.
