ReCharge...
My Oura ring recommends that you charge it a little bit every day. Its optimal range is 60-80% charged. So they say pick a time daily and just put a little charge on it. I do it while I'm writing. Slip it off (or wrangle it off depending on how puffy my fingers are) and drop it on the charger for just a few minutes. Boom right back to 80%.
I was thinking that it's actually a great reminder for all of us. Just take a few minutes every day to recharge. And also that we are not going to make it 100% right now. Probably operating somewhere closer to the 60% to be honest, but if we take a moment or two each day to just recharge maybe we can hit 80% for a small bit.
Maybe.
I mean, I'm trying to look for positives and hopefulness for all of us. And sometimes it's going to be really corny reaches like "hey, charge yourself like I charge my ring!" but I think the trying is important. Yoda and I disagree. There is always try. And even if it's a "do not," the trying is important.
So what are you doing to recharge lately?
I'm doing my positive book. I'm doing a Masterclass on meditation right now with Jon Kabat-Zinn. I'm writing. I'm reading. Though the current book is a collection of short stories that are based in The Stand universe so not like REALLY relaxing. I'm working out. I'm hanging out with Brent. I'm petting the cats.
None of that is really earth shaking or different or something that takes a special effort to make happen. It's mostly stuff I like to do naturally. The meditation is still a stretch, but the Masterclass is half theory half practice and I excel at the theory part at least. But it's all drops of water to refill a bucket that seems to keep getting knocked over.
I'm balancing the time I spend being informed with the time I spend putting my phone down, or at least only having it opened for word games. That's a big piece of it right now. I have to stay informed, we are living in dangerous times and things are constantly changing, but I also have to not be in a perpetual doom spiral. I have to remind myself of things that are going well, legal challenges, protests, community. But I have to stay aware of things that are not. waves hands in an all encompassing gesture
Make sure you are spending time with the people you love doing things that soothe your soul. Spend a little time every day recharging.
We all need it right now and for the foreseeable future.
Here's to 80%!
or 60% if we're being realistic....
