Scrolling...
Joy scrolling? Anti-doom scrolling?
I don't know exactly, but I've been doing more scrolling the past few days than I have in awhile.
It's been so lovely to see more and more results come in from elections. To see the blue tsunami actually happened. It wasn't a fever dream.
Now, I'm not delusional. I know it's going to be a hard few years. I also know there is no guarantee that it goes the way we want it to in 2028.
Anyone who has been around abusive relationships knows this is actually the most dangerous time. When the abuser knows they are about to lose their control over you they double down. Anyone who has seen a cornered animal has seen the same thing. Things are about to get ugly. It's going to be a rough two years.
BUT...
It's been a rough two years and we made it this far. And though it's going to be another rough two years, it going to be better. Some hope. Some relief. It's not going to be the same as it was. There are going to be brakes put on this administration. We don't have go juice on the Federal level just yet, but we have brakes. And we have a lot of state legislatures that do have the juice. And if everyone makes the best use of it all we could be seeing a significant positive shift.
Which is why I've been scrolling this week. Just soaking it up. Recharging.
I'm still going to be worried. I think it's important that we are all vigilant. I don't think the elections went the way they went just because. I think everyone saying, LOOK AT THIS! the protests, the independent media, the high prices that he could not hide, all of that combined worked. But it was a lot of people saying this will not stand that really pushed it over. People saying there has to be a better way.
I talked about the No Kings protests we went to and how if they accomplished nothing else they let people know they weren't alone. We were together.
And together we all did that.
And together we need to keep pushing.
But today? Today I am joy scrolling. And sitting with some relief that I'm soaking it all in instead of scouring expat sites deciding where we move.
Ah...
