Thanksgiving...
Happy Thanksgiving!
As most of you know Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. It's a lot less pressure than a lot of others. Just eating and watching TV. The parade, the dog show, football, and often Christmas Vacation in the evening to transition holidays.
The food is almost all beige, the calories don't count, and I mess up at least one dish or the timing on all of them each year.
But it's still my favorite.
Right now the girls are watching football, Brent is doing a round of cleaning from my stuffing and mac and cheese prep, and I'm taking the opportunity to write this before I need to put the next round of food in the oven.
My house is full of the people I love the best all ready to enjoy a meal together.
We don't have the family drama worries that plague a lot of other people. We don't all align exactly on our politics but we are in the same ballpark. We don't agree on every single thing in the world but we are all fairly good at stating an opinion without being an asshole about it. At least now that I'm through perimenopause and Katie's on estrogen. It was a little more risky there for a few years. (Sort of kidding, sort of not)
We like Katie's girlfriend a lot but don't care if they choose to marry or don't so no parental pressure there. I also know I'm not ever getting grandkids so no pointed, "Maybe next year there will be a baby at the table" discussions either.
It's a good holiday.
I hope wherever you are you are enjoying your Thanksgiving (or just Thursday as the case may be!) and get a chance to tell the people nearest and dearest to you that you love them and could they please pass the gravy...
