The Idles of March...
This would be the normal how did I do on my little star chart update but...
March was kind of a bust. It's fine that it was a bust. But it was a bust.
I was going to get the work done on my Achilles the end of March but it got moved up to the middle so basically there were two regular weeks of March and two I'm just going to sit here on the couch with my foot propped up weeks of March.
My workouts were going well before the procedure, my weight lifted was increasing and I was FINALLY seeing the number on the scale decreasing. Then...well no. I stalled out on the weight loss while I sat on the couch. So it could have been worse, for sure, but I am bummed to have lost that momentum.
I should be able to get into a better routine again soon. We bought a rowing machine so I will even be able to get some decent cardio in before I'm cleared to jog. I know, most people HATE rowing machines but I actually enjoy it. It was in my regular rotation when I had a gym membership. I like the rhythm of it and it's a really good sneaky cardio ass kicker.
As far as reading goes I'm 7 books ahead of the number I auto filled in for a goal. Not surprisingly my couch sitting has been good for my reading numbers! I'm still doing a pretty good mix of fiction and nonfiction. This month I actually read more nonfiction than fiction. On Tyranny was a good one for all Americans to read right now. Though in a way it was a little discouraging as some of the advice on how to fight back the fight has already been lost. But it still made me feel a little better to have someone "get it" about the current situation. Though the author gets it so well he moved to Canada this year so...
Best book I read this month was Everything Is Tuberculosis. John Green is a captivating writer. The man can tell a story even if he's telling one as heartbreaking as the continuing struggle to eradicate tuberculosis. And one that is now much more frustrating as our government cuts funding to organizations that were doing that work.
SO ANYWAY...
Still working on my Spanish, though I'm not sure how long I will keep up with that, at least with Duolingo. I might switch to workbooks or something else. I'm having a hard time with tenses and I don't feel like Duolingo is very helpful in that area. But since I was just doing it for fun I'm not sure how much that matters.
Still doing the positive book and the mini history lesson daily.
Didn't get a lot of stars for completing my lists the past two weeks because of the foot BUT Brent did suggest that I give myself a star for each day I do my PT exercises just to get some extras. Ten weeks of PT means a lot of bonus stars so I think that's a great idea.
April should be back to getting things done. To be fair, I've gotten all my stars the past few days so I'm already better off than I was. Heck, with the bonus stickers for PT I could even run out of room for them all. Look at me sparkle!
I've got a chance at jury duty tomorrow (fingers crossed!) and we will be cat sitting Otto for a bit so April will be starting out nicely. For everyone but Tux. Man, he hates other cats...
But for the rest of us? Bonus snuggles and extra stars!
